Challenges & Outcomes

“Osmo Words Explorers and the Tunnel of Treasures” is quite a mouthful of a title. Originally called “Aztext”, the idea was pitched to Osmo as a way to add more appeal to their existing hardware. The previous game, “Osmo Words” was about semantics — identifying objects and spelling them out. In order to keep things interesting, we decided to focus instead on the forms of words. And as a bonus, as the player traverses the game each reward is a depiction of a genuine Aztec Artifact that can be found in museums in Mexico and elsewhere.

This was initially a publishing agreement, where Important Little Games performed all design and development and Osmo published the game on app stores under their brand. However, initial reception was good and Osmo decided to buy out Important Little Games’ ownership of the game so that further development could take place in-house.
